UK-based mobile accessories retailer Mobile Fun has posted a YouTube video of what could be a genuine set of Apple-made EarPods that would connect through the Lightning port on this fall’s iPhones.
While, as is the usual disclaimer with this kind of video, it can’t be discerned for definite that these EarPods are not simply fakes, there is good reason to believe in their authenticity. For example, the design is in line with that of EarPods which Apple already makes for the 3.5mm headphone jack.
That dedicated port is heavily rumored for the axe with the iPhones that, judging from a trusted leaker’s recent report, could be officially announced on September 6 or 7 this year. Using the Lightning port for headphones can result in a higher standard of audio sound, as Mobile Fun has observed.
This is something that you would likely appreciate when listening to music bought from the iTunes Store; we look at some recent musical additions to that outlet in the new issue of AppleMagazine.
