Video Shows Working Lightning EarPods Allegedly for iPhone 7

The EarPods that Apple could bundle with this fall’s iPhones might look like those in a video recently posted to YouTube by EverythingApplesPro. In a short demonstration, we can see that these EarPods come with an inline remote that apparently works with an iPhone 6S.

In the video, an unnamed narrator shows the EarPods, which look very similar to the Apple-made EarPods that already ship with the iPhone 6S, bar a Lightning plug at the end of the wire. The narrator then attaches this plug to the Lightning socket of an iPhone 6S to demonstrate the remote functionality.

It’s unclear where EverythingApplesPro sourced this accessory from, which makes it trickier to discern whether it is even genuine. 9to5Mac has speculated that it could actually be “a Chinese knockoff, or a DIY project – in other words, a clone of what the final product might look like.”

However, if Apple does bundle EarPods with this fall’s iPhones, as can be realistically expected, they are likely to bear a strong visual similarity to those in this video. That’s not least because those iPhones are widely rumored to lose the 3.5mm dedicated headphone jack.
