WarnerMedia unveils HBO Max launch, exclusive content

WarnerMedia has confirmed details of its new streaming service.

Called HBO Max, the new service will feature content from the corporation’s various film and television networks, as well as new and exclusive content that can’t be found elsewhere.

According to a press release, the service will feature more than 10,000 hours of premium content by spring 2020, with material from HBO, CNN, TNT, New Line, DC Entertainment, TBS, truTV, The CW, Turner Classic Movies, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Crunchyroll, Rooster Teeth, Looney Tunes and more.

The streaming service will also receive exclusive rights to all 236 episodes of Friends, one of the world’s biggest streaming hits, currently available on Netflix. It’s been confirmed that Netflix will lose rights to the show, with the company previously paying $100 million for a one-year deal.

All episodes of fan favorites such as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Pretty Little Liars will also be available on the channel, as well as exclusive movie productions from Greg Berlanti, and Reese Witherspoon, the latter of whom is also working on projects for Apple TV+.

HBO Max will launch “several months” after Apple TV+ and Disney+ later this year, with many expecting the company to launch in January of 2020. Titles confirmed for 2020 and 2021 include:
