Most assuredly, Marvel Comics fans are already excitedly looking forward to the next movie to be released, Iron Man 3. Marvel Comics has quite the movie franchise going between The Incredible Hulk, The X-Men, Spider-Man, etc., and with the excitement over The Avengers dying down, it’s time to look forward to the next one, scheduled to be released on May 3, 2013.
In Iron Man 2, Tony Stark admitted to his identity as Iron Man, leading to the U.S. Government requesting that he hand over his technology. He refused. At the same time, he finds out that the palladium core that keeps him alive is also slowly poisoning him and he can’t find a suitable replacement. To top it all off, the son of his father’s old partner, Vanko, is seeking revenge on him and has built his own arc reactor to carry out this mission. Stark finds a hidden message from his father that reveals a new element at his disposal and uses it to build a new suit which he uses to defeat Vanko.
The second sequel, Iron Man 3, brings a new enemy, one that will be seeking to destroy Stark’s loved ones. He and Pepper Pots kissed at the end of Iron Man 2, so she’s certainly at the top o the list. In this sequel he will finally get an answer to whether the suit defines the man, or the man defines the suit.
Walt Disney bought the rights to the film from Paramount Pictures, and Jon Favreau has decided to forego directing, yet becomes the executive producer. He also returns to his role as Happy Hogan, with Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, and Don Cheadle repeating their roles as well. Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale and Ben Kingsley will join the cast.
