A lucky journalist has got his hands on the iPhone 13 Pro Max in Gold early.
SalimBaba Technical on YouTube has shared his unboxing video with the world on September 20, five days before the official release of the new iPhone 13 range on September 24. It’s unknown how he’s managed to get his hands on the new model so early, as Apple sets an embargo on journalists and PR from sharing content September 21, but it could be that a shipping error meant he got his hands on the new iPhone before release, or that he’s shared his exclusive unboxing before the Cupertino company permitted him to do so.
The video offers the first look at the new packaging coming on the iPhone 13 range. This year, Apple has redesigned the packaging of the iPhone to eliminate the outer plastic wrap, which Apple says will 600 metric tons of plastic and bring the company closer to its goal of ‘completely removing plastic from all packaging by 2025’.
In the video, we can see the new adhesive paper tab used to secure the box, replacing the previous plastic wrap, and we can see the iPhone in the flesh for the first time. It features a 20% smaller notch than the iPhone 12, and a stunning tweaked design that looks more premium than the iPhone 12.
