watchOS 2 Expected to Spark Growth in Apple Watch Sales

After its launch in the fall, watchOS 2 will enable Apple Watch users to download native third party apps – and the investment firm J.P. Morgan reckons that this will give more people incentives to purchase the device.

AppleInsider reports that, in a note sent to investors today, analyst Rod Hall wrote favorably about the wearable’s prospects, following news from Fortune that electronics retail chain Best Buy will expand availability of the Apple Watch to all 1,050 of its “big-box” stores before September’s end. Best Buy chief executive Hubert Joly has described demand as “so strong in the stores and online”.

Though Apple has not yet specified more than “the fall” for when watchOS 2 will arrive, including as a free download for current Apple Watch owners, Hall has forecast September as the launch month. He added that he believes some developers have been holding off making apps for the Apple Watch until the arrival of native apps on the device.
