WatchOS 8.4 will combat Apple Watch charging issues – and we could see it next week

Apple Watch and iPhone 12

Apple has reportedly addressed the growing number of charging problems that Apple Watch Series 7 owners were facing, in the watchOS 8.4 release candidate.

The new update, which has just been seeded to developers and beta testers, tackles an ongoing bug that could result in some Apple Watch chargers failing to work properly with the Apple Watch.

Users have been reporting charging issues with the Apple Watch Series 7 since November, with many experiencing charging problems when using third-party accessories, and some left unable to charge their wearable altogether. The issue for many was that the smartwatch would accept only a limited charge, while others said the charging speed was slow or the battery was even draining after they plugged their watch in.

Apple’s release notes for the watchOS 8.4 update state that the software specifically fixes the bug that could cause some Apple Watch chargers not to work. Hopefully, this means that charging issues will come to an end with the release of watchOS 8.4.

Users could see the software update released as early as next week, as the release candidate represents the finished version that will be made available to the public.
