If you often use Apple’s social network Game Center as part of your iOS gaming, you should be heartened to learn that a long-standing bug, where a nuisance white screen can appear when Game Center is launched or crashes other apps, may have been fixed in iOS 9.3.2’s beta release.
Many turn-based iOS titles use Game Center to enable online-based multiplayer matches. Now, MacRumors reports evidence that the white screen bug, which apparently originated with iOS 8, might have been rectified in the latest public beta version of iOS 9.3.2.
The site particularly refers to an earlier report from TouchArcade. This report says that “community members of ours who are brave enough to install beta iOS system updates have reported that Game Center is once again working for them in the iOS 9.3.2 beta.”
However, the report goes on to caution that “the Game Center bug is a vicious beast, and many people have thought they slayed it, only to have it return inside of a couple days.” The writer, Eli Hodapp, therefore understandably describes himself as “cautiously optimistic”, rather than “ready to strike up the band and declare the Game Center bug fixed.”
It should also be noted that Apple has not issued substantiated confirmation that the bug has been addressed – and, if a fix has indeed been delivered, it is unclear when the full release of iOS 9.3.2 will arrive to provide most iOS gamers with relief from the glitch.
