Why a 4K 21.5-Inch iMac Could Be On The Way

Though we now know a lot about what OS X El Capitan will be like when it launches, we might have to wait until the fall before Apple announces any new Mac computers. Hence, any hints of what is come are certainly welcome in the meantime – and a few of those hints have already been noticed by developers trying out OS X El Capitan during its beta phase of development.

Let’s cut straight to the chase: Apple looks likely to unveil a 4K version of its 21.5-inch iMac later in 2015. There are a few good signs of this, including that, as observed by 9to5Mac, code deep within OS X El Capitan indicates Mac support for a new display panel made by Apple and with a resolution of 4096 x 2304.

Though Apple already offers a 27-inch iMac with a 5K display, bumping the smaller iMac’s screen to 4K would be a logical progression. There has been other evidence unearthed of a forthcoming new iMac with such a display, and you can read about that evidence by turning to the current issue of AppleMagazine.
