Why you should still hold out hope for a 27-inch iMac Pro

It has been several months since Apple removed the 27-inch iMac from its online store, leading some to speculate that the company may not release any more large all-in-one computers in the future.

Currently, the only iMac model available for purchase is the smaller 24-inch version.

However, there have been hints that Apple may be considering the release of a more powerful iMac, potentially in the form of a 27-inch model.

One clue that a larger iMac could be in the works is the fact that Apple lists the 24-inch iMac as “iMac 24” on its website. This suggests that there may be other sizes in development, as there would be no need to differentiate the iMac by size if it was the only option available.

Additionally, well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted that a high-end iMac will not be released until 2023, and Apple journalist Mark Gurman has suggested that the larger iMac could come equipped with M3 Pro or M3 Max chips, which are not expected to be available until late 2023 at the earliest.

There have also been rumors that the 27-inch iMac could feature an XDR display, similar to the one found on the Pro Display XDR. In terms of design, it’s unclear whether the iMac will follow the trend of recent Apple products, such as the Mac Studio and some iPad models, by embracing brighter colors, or if it will stick with more muted tones.

It’s worth noting that none of these details have been confirmed by Apple, and it’s possible that the company may choose not to release a larger iMac at all.

However, the available clues do suggest that a more powerful iMac could be in the works, potentially to be released in 2023. The exact price and release date of the 27-inch iMac, if it is indeed in development, are currently unknown.
