Anyone who plays console games, and dabbles a little in the world of casual mobile gaming, knows that there is a distinct graphical difference between the two. Consoles often boast much better visuals, and are able to run a wider array of animations and particles without the worry of performance and gameplay issues. Mobile hardware generally lacks the ability to provide complex visuals for in-depth titles. At least, it used to.
Thanks to new advancements in mobile hardware and technology, handheld devices and tablets are running a much wider spectrum of games, including some titles that look incredibly realistic in their own right. But these games are still “basic” and its hard to find an iOS based experience that is both visually breathtaking and AAA title worthy in length.
But the new Apple A6 chip might help change that stereotype. The tech giants most recent technology is boasting some incredibly impressive numbers and has already far surpassed expectations on a few benchmarking tests.
That added power in the A6 chip could help game indie developers to craft lengthy mobile titles that play great and look amazing. It would also allow big name game creators to port larger, more “console worthy” games to mobile handsets and tablets. This is something that has the potential to reshape mobile gaming as we know it, and it will definitely be a rapidly evolving subject on the front of consumer tech.
