Windows 10 Update Rolling Out for Lumia 950, 950 XL and 550

Microsoft has began expanding availability of the February cumulative update for Windows 10 Mobile. Lumia 950, 950 XL and 550 users should expect to get update notifications over the next week.

Microsoft has announced various details about the content of the update, which will bring phones up to build 10586.107 of Windows 10 Mobile. The biggest enhancements include to Bluetooth connectivity with accessories, PDF rendering and navigation in the Edge browser, and battery usage with Iris Recognition for Windows Hello.

The update also packages lots of smaller but appreciable tweaks, including for phone software updates and app downloads that stubbornly stayed at 0% for lengthy periods of time.

If you have one of the above mentioned Lumia handsets, you can check whether the update has yet arrived by tapping Security, then Update & security, Phone update, and Check for updates. Microsoft says that Windows 10 Mobile is ā€œupdating continuouslyā€, so users of phones running the OS can benefit from regular updates and, especially crucially, included security enhancements.

Microsoft has openly pledged to continue issuing updates to Windows 10 Mobile until at least 1 September 2018, which should give many Windows handsets an impressive support lifecycle.
