Better known for its smartphones, the Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has made its entry into the PC laptop market with 13.3-inch and 12.5-inch models of its Windows-installed Mi Notebook Air.
Coming in silver and gold aluminum casings, the Mi Notebook Air models are reminiscent of MacBooks, especially with these large and small competitors’ respective weights of just 2.82 and 2.36 pounds. They are, however, more budget-conscious – with the pricing starting at $540.
The 13.3-inch model packs an Intel Core i5-6200U processor of up to 2.7GHz alongside 8GB of RAM, 256GB of solid-state storage, one USB-C port and two USB 3.0 ports. The 12.5-inch alternative features an Intel Core M3 CPU, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of solid-state storage.
Both machines will be released in China on August 2, reports MacRumors. However, Xiaomi has not provided details of when these notebooks will arrive outside its native market.
