Zoom Expands to Apple TV 4K, Enhancing Video Calls with Continuity Camera Feature

Zoom | Apple TV+

Zoom has ventured into new territory with its latest app release for Apple TV 4K, creating a seamless way for users to conduct conference calls using their television in conjunction with an iPhone or iPad. This integration utilizes Apple’s innovative Continuity Camera feature, as discovered by Sigmund Judge, who first noticed the “Zoom – for Home TV” app appearing on the tvOS App Store.

The release follows Apple’s introduction of FaceTime on Apple TV with the rollout of tvOS 17 in September. This update brought the capability to wirelessly connect Apple TV to an iPhone or iPad, harnessing the devices’ cameras and microphones to project participants onto the TV screen. Zoom’s implementation mirrors this functionality, allowing users to effortlessly link their Apple TV with an iPhone or iPad, initiating and joining Zoom meetings directly from their TV.

The app comes packed with features designed to enhance the video conferencing experience. It offers high-definition video and audio, integrates with calendars for easy scheduling, and enables meeting invitations through phone, email, or Zoom contacts. Additional features include in-meeting chat, the option to join breakout rooms, and more.

To access Zoom on Apple TV, users can sign in with their existing Zoom credentials or by visiting a specific pairing URL on their iPhone.

The app is compatible with the second-generation Apple TV 4K and later versions, provided that they are used in conjunction with an iPhone or iPad updated to iOS 17 or iPadOS 17, ensuring full functionality of the camera and microphone features.
