Following the release of Apple TV+, the tech giant have given the green light to a series order for eight episodes of “Lisey’s Story”. The TV show is based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, and is set to star Julianne Moore. King will write all eight episodes and will also be executive producer.

It may prove to be a landmark move for Apple, as it’s no secret that King seldom writes for TV shows. This makes “Lisey’s Story” notable in itself. Previously, the best selling author has chalked “Lisey’s Story” as one of his favourite works.

The novel is a psychological horror with elements of romance – it is split between Lisey’s life in the present day and that of her dead husband’s life as he remembers it. The widow suddenly begins to remember things about her husband that she had suppressed while being terrorised by a former fan of her husband.

King and Moore aren’t the only big names on the show, J.J. Abrams and Ben Stephenson of Bad Robot Productions will also be executive producers. Abrams is set to be heavily with all things Apple TV+ – this is the third series he’s working on with Apple. As well as “Lisey’s Story”, he’s also working on the development of “Little Voice” and “My Glory Was I had Such Friends”.

Currently, Apple has up to 30 TV shows in the pipeline for its upcoming subscription service. Apple TV+ is set to debut this fall. Other TV shows and movies Apple have prepared include “Amazing Stories”, “Servant”, and “Home”.
