Apple Has Green Makeover on Website and in Retail Stores

Ahead of Earth Day on April 22, Apple has given its website and retail stores a very green – literally – new look. It’s all to spread the word about the Cupertino company’s environmental efforts and, of course, the wider message of the need to look after the planet.

MacRumors reports how the familiar Apple logo sign has been given a bright green leaf at over a hundred of the company’s retail stores. Retail employees have also put on matching green t-shirts – as particularly highlighted by Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail, Angela Ahrendts, on Twitter.

Retail stores running on 100% renewable energy have also been given new signage indicating so, while Apple has updated the front page of its website to draw more attention to Liam, the iPhone-dismantling robot previously given his time in the spotlight at Apple’s “Let us loop you in” media event last month.

All of this is on top of Apple’s recently-launched Apps for Earth campaign, which aims to raise money for the conservation organization the World Wildlife Fund. Also promising for the earth are future improvements in battery technology – a subject which we focus upon in the lead article of the new issue of AppleMagazine. It’s easy to download that issue to your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
