The release of the iPhone 5 is this Friday, and Apple Magazine is happy to have reporters in Manhattan and Montreal on the frontlines covering the exciting day. We want readers to be able to  experience the craziness from the comfort of their own home or office. I live in New York city, and there are lines already forming at the Apple Store on 5th Avenue, and the same can be said for our neighbors up north. We will be there to interview patrons who will have weathered the rush to be able to get their hands on Apple’s new smartphone on day one.
We will provide you with an in-depth unboxing and crystal clear images of the phone, packaging, earpods, and reactions from the crowd, and from Apple Store employees. I expect this Friday morning to be similar to “Black Friday” in terms of a large crowd, and hopefully without the violence. I will be tweeting live from the 5th Avenue location on Friday with pictures and reactions from the crowd; you can follow my tweets @arandall12 on Twitter starting at 7:30 am est. You can also follow @AppleMagazine for more up-to-date news and Apple information on launch day.
The doors at all 390 storefront locations will be opening at 8 a.m. local time, but five of those stores will be opening their doors for the very first time. In preparation for the big day, Apple will be adding new retail locations in five countries including cities in Spain, France, Germany, and Italy. In the past, the grand opening of new stores in general drew a huge crowd; combine that with the launch of the iPhone 5, and it’s sure to be a huge event.
