Apple Pay Reaching Canada with American Express on Tuesday

The mobile payments service Apple Pay will arrive in Canada tomorrow, according to iPhone in Canada, which claims to have been informed by “customer service representatives” of American Express.

It had previously been reported by The Globe and Mail that Apple had partnered with American Express to bring Apple Pay to Canada sooner, talks with leading banks and other credit card bodies having saw overly slow progress for the Cupertino firm’s liking.

Now, iPhone in Canada has reported that the service will hit the country on Tuesday, November 17 – this date having apparently been confirmed “over the phone numerous times” by American Express employees. This date had also been put forward by the blog’s own readers.

Canada will be only the third country to receive Apple Pay after the United States last year and the United Kingdom in July. The service enables more streamlined payments through various iPhones and iPads – specifically, those with the Touch ID fingerprint sensor – and the Apple Watch.
