Apple Releases iTunes 12.5.1 with All-New Apple Music Design

The clearer and simpler new design for Apple Music has just made its post-beta debut, as it’s the main attraction of iTunes 12.5.1, the new update for the iTunes software on the Mac.

In the update’s release notes, Apple claims that the Apple Music redesign, also included in iOS 10, “brings greater clarity and simplicity to every aspect of the experience.” It was at WWDC in June that the new Apple Music and its features were extensively demoed for the public.

iTunes 12.5.1 also adds support for iOS 10 and, for macOS Sierra, integration of Siri functionality. With Sierra, you will now be able to ask the virtual personal assistant to play music from your iTunes Library and Apple Music. Another addition for Sierra users is Picture-in-Picture, where – as on supported iPads – a video can play in any corner of your screen as you use other apps.

While macOS Sierra won’t actually be publicly released until next Tuesday, September 20, the mere mention of these new features will obviously give Mac users even more reason to look forward to its arrival. iTunes 12.5.1 is now available for download through the Mac App Store’s Software Update mechanism.
