This collaboration is detailed in a recent Bloomberg report, highlighting a significant stride in Apple’s artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities for its next iPhone operating system.

The specifics of how ChatGPT will be integrated into iOS 18 remain undisclosed. However, this move is part of Apple’s broader strategy to enhance its mobile devices with advanced AI features.

There are ongoing negotiations between Apple and Google regarding the licensing of Google’s Gemini chatbot, although these have not yet culminated in a deal.

Discussions with OpenAI began in February, indicating a focused effort by Apple to augment its AI technology portfolio.

Anticipation is building for Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) next month, where the tech giant is expected to unveil numerous AI innovations for iOS 18, described as one of the most significant updates in the history of iPhone software.

Analyst Jeff Pu from Haitong has noted that some of these features will be supported by Apple’s own data servers, utilizing custom in-house chips.

Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, has previously announced the company’s intent to pioneer new AI technologies.

In line with these ambitions, reports from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggest that Apple is also developing its own chatbot tool, internally named “Apple GPT”, which aims to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
