Apple to remove Home Button from iPhone SE 4

Apple will remove the home button from the next iPhone SE, according to a new report.

It’s thought that the next entry-level smartphone will feature a 6.1-inch LCD display and a ‘notch’ that we’ve seen on the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Plus, but it won’t feature Face ID to cut costs. Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) says that the firm is planning to release the next iPhone SE in 2024.

With the removal of a home button, the iPhone SE won’t be able to offer Touch ID as standard, so it’s likely that the button will move to the Side button, similar to the iPad Air and iPad mini, offering protection whilst keeping costs down.

The device would likely resemble the iPhone XR, though it might be slightly thinner as it won’t need to contain components such as a dot project for Face ID.
