The next-generation Apple Watch, presumably to be called the Apple Watch Series 3, will be released in 2017’s second half, according to a supply chain report from DigiTimes.
Citing “sources from the upstream supply chain”, the Taiwan-based news site says that “the upcoming next-generation Apple Watch”, as it calls it, “is scheduled to be released in the second half”. Quanta Computer, currently the sole manufacturer of the Apple Watch, will assemble this new wearable as well.
It looks likely that, though DigiTimes does not specify as such, the third-generation Apple Watch will be unveiled alongside Apple’s new iPhones at a launch event in September. This is the typical month for Apple to announce new iPhones and also the month of the Series 2’s reveal last year.
However, there have been few rumors about features of the ‘Apple Watch Series 3’ – and the DigiTimes report does not provide any fresh clarification on this subject.
In January, the Chinese-language Economic Daily News claimed that the Series 3 will arrive in 2017’s third quarter and pack enhancements to battery life, performance and processing power.
