2020 looks set to be a big year for Apple, with the company on the brink of launching some exciting new products in the next couple of months. That’s according to Ming-Chi Kuo.
In his latest research note, Kuo has suggested that Apple will launch its new iPhone 9 phone in the next couple of months, alongside new ultrawideband tags (expected to be called AirTags), as well as a new iPad Pro, high-end wireless headphones with Apple branding, and new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models, all before the end of the summer.
Speaking in his research note for TF International Securities, Kuo said: “We forecast that Apple’s major new hardware products in 1H20 include the 4.7-inch LCD iPhone, iPad Pro, MacBook Pro/Air, smaller wireless charging mat, UWB tag, and a high-end Bluetooth headphone.”
It was all-but-confirmed that Apple would launch a successor to the iPhone SE in the first three months of this year, and Kuo’s research backs that up.
Apple has been working on a new low-cost iPhone that looks similar to the iPhone 8, offering a 4.7-inch LCD display but with a more advanced A13 Chip to power Apple’s new Apple Arcade gaming platform.
The iPad Pro is also in need of an upgrade, and rumors have been circulating that the firm was working on a model with triple-lens rear cameras with 3D sensor technology and AR.
Other products expected include new ultrawideband tags, which we previously reported could be called AirTags.
These tags, similar to Tile, will allow users to locate items such as their keys, wallets, teddy bears, and other commonly-misplaced items using iOS technology.
Apple will also launch a high-end headphone product under Apple branding rather than Beats to continue its expansion into the market, following the runaway success of the AirPods and AirPods Pro products.
An Apple-branded charging mat is also expected, though it won’t be as advanced as the AirPower charging mat which was canceled by Apple in 2019.
Finally, Apple could be set to upgrade its MacBook Pro or MacBook Air range with improved scissor-switch keyboards and a spec bump, though we know little about this rumor right now.
