ASUS has brought a number of impressive innovations and refinements to its ultraportable notebook range, having today unveiled the ZenBook 3 with an aluminium alloy chassis only 11.9mm thick.
While this aerospace-grade alloy is “50% stronger than the standard alloy used in laptops”, as ASUS has declared in a press release, the chassis still weighs only 2 pounds. The notebook also comes with Windows 10, an Intel Core processor, up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of flash storage.
Like Apple’s competing 12-inch MacBook, the ZenBook 3 comes with a sole USB-C for connecting peripherals. Meanwhile, battery life reaches 9 hours, and models each with a built-in fingerprint reader supporting Windows Hello allow for speedier unlocking.
The ZenBook 3 will be available in Royal Blue, Rose Gold and Quartz Grey metal finishes when it launches in this year’s third quarter, with US prices ranging from $999 to $1,999.
