Imagine the scenario, it’s the middle of the day, you’ve achieved nothing in the morning meeting and the afternoon is set to be manic as a result. You need something to relax, switch your brain off, and also, enjoy yourself with a bit. There’s nothing that fits the bill quite like a video game, but with a short lunch break, you need something that you can have switched on and off again in just a few minutes. Quick play games are your very best option, and they’re super easy to find online. We’ve compiled a list of some sorts of games that will fit into your lunchtime gaming needs. They’re browser-based or on mobile, so you don’t need to leave your desk, they’re easy to pick up, so you don’t need to waste time learning the controls, and they’re all great fun.
Slots games
When it comes to really quick play gaming, there’s not a lot that can compete with online slots, they’ve been leading the way for decades. Slots games are particularly speedy to play because the controls are simple to grasp and the gameplay is designed to be fast-paced. There are lots of different varieties of slots, from ones that have a back-to-basics feel, as though they’re straight out of a 1920s saloon, to those that have flashy graphics and modifiers on the reels. Generally speaking, it’s a good idea to find a theme that you enjoy and search for slots games that fit that theme. Animal lovers could search for slots based on their favorite animal, whilst sports fans might search for slots with an NFL, or baseball theme. There are slots based on historical mythology, jungle exploring, adventuring in the arctic, and more. Some slots will be free to trial and others will be paid for from the get-go. If that’s not your style then there are still plenty of other options, so don’t panic.
Pokémon Go and Co
Anyone who’s played Pokémon Go before will know that the whole point of the game is to get you moving. In order to catch Pokémon, you’ll need to walk around outside until you bump into one. If you’re the kind of person who enjoys a lunchtime walk, then this could be just perfect for you. However, there are a couple of work around if you’d prefer to keep it at your desk. The most obvious one is to purchase lures, as many of the top players do. These items allow you to set a lure wherever you’re sat, which will draw Pokémon towards it. You can then catch them, or battle them to your heart’s content, without ever having to move. The only downside to this option is that it can start to get more expensive, so if you’re looking for all the fun of Pokémon without the need to go out there and catch them or pay for lures, then there’s a different game that might work better for you.
Evo Creo is a game that is entirely it’s own but is very heavily influenced by the Pokémon GameBoy games. You exist in a different world and the animals are different, but beyond that, the aim is exactly the same. The great thing about this game is that it is available for iOS and Android for just a dollar. With a price that low, it’s worth trying it out either way.
Insaniquarium Deluxe
This game is one that many people who were gaming in the early noughties will remember fondly, but it’s back with a bit of a facelift. The aim of Insaniquarium Deluxe is simple, keep the fish in your tank well fed, multiplying, and safe from alien invaders. It sounds a little kooky because truth be told, it is. You begin the game with two cute little orange guppies, who you can click to feed. The more you feed them, the more they poop out coins. The more coins they poop out, the closer they get to growing up a level. Before long, you’ll have fully grown guppies who might even have babies.
The only thing standing in the way is tank invaders. It’ll start with some nasty-looking carnivorous fish and gradually get more and more otherworldly. Along the way, you’ll unlock new tank friends who’ll help you fight off the aliens and keep your guppies safe. This game is wacky and wonderful, perfect for that lighthearted lunchtime entertainment that we all so often need.
