Boosts in 4G Customers Suggest Rising iPhone Sales in China

How good were iPhone sales in China during October? We don’t yet have a concrete indication, but recently released figures for new 4G customers for various telecom firms in the world’s most populous country suggest that Apple has built further on its already impressive presence there.

China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom have all, reports Forbes, revealed noticeable boosts in their 4G customer numbers for last month. China Mobile gained 19.7 million 4G users, its joint second best month for new such customers, while China Telecom added 2.3 million 3G and 4G customers, matching the company’s record for new customers in a month. Finally, China Unicom amassed an extra 4 million users of its 3G and 4G services in that month.

This is all promising news for Apple. It already topped the ranks for Chinese smartphone market share in September, and the East Asia country was responsible for 53% of Apple’s total revenue in the just-elapsed fiscal year. Therefore, this good growth in 4G users also hints strongly at good growth in iPhone sales in the People’s Republic of China.
