If you’ve recently attempted to buy an iPhone SE, only to notice stock-outs and lengthy shipping delays, rest assured you aren’t the only one. The recently-released 4-inch handset is continuing to see limited availability in a number of markets, which suggests that it could be an early sales success.
The phone’s dwindling stock was pointed out by AppleInsider on Wednesday, when it observed that many models on sale through the US arm of the Apple Online Store weren’t shipping until late in the month. At the time that we write, all of these models – whether SIM-free or with a carrier – show delivery times of 7-10 business days, as they also do in the store in various other international markets.
While these figures suggest that early sales of the iPhone SE have surpassed Apple’s own expectations, it remains unclear precisely how many units have been sold so far. The relatively high sales could lead Apple to soon cite concrete figures, but this isn’t a foregone conclusion.
In any case, we don’t think you should fret about waiting too long if you’ve only just placed an order for the iPhone SE. As the device has not attracted the same kind of hype and publicity as a flagship iPhone, we expect Apple to comfortably address the stock shortages within the next few weeks.
