Ex-CEO Says Twitter Can Succeed as an Independent Company

While various companies, including Disney and Google, have been linked with a possible acquisition of Twitter, former CEO Dick Costolo has insisted that Twitter could still thrive as an independent company.

Costolo expressed this belief to Bloomberg’s Brad Stone, adding: “I’ve also said that I think the world of the team over there. I think Jack thinks beautifully and elegantly and clearly about product direction. Anthony and Adam and Vijaya and the rest of the senior leadership over there are tremendous.”

He opined that selling itself was not “the only possible outcome” for Twitter and that “there are a lot of different ways Twitter can be successful.”

Costolo announced his departure as Twitter CEO in June 2015. Company co-founder Jack Dorsey took over as interim boss before landing the position permanently the following October.
