A BREAKTHROUGH app that can tell people whether someone really fancies them could be the key to improving Birmingham’s chat-up chances ahead of Valentines’ Day.

The Vital Signs Camera app, developed by Philips, measures heart and breathing rates by detecting the changes of colour in someone’s face and in the movements in their chest.

Almost half of men surveyed in Brum said they would use the technology to improve their chance of getting a date.
