Google Services Including Drive and Gmail Briefly Disrupted

If you struggled to access Google Drive or Gmail earlier today, rest assured you weren’t the only one. There have been reports of various Google services malfunctioning earlier today, but the tech giant has acted quickly to address the problems.

According to The Next Web, reports of Drive going down first arose on Twitter, and Google soon updated its Status Dashboard to indicate issues with not only Drive, but also Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drawings and Gmail. Around this time, The Next Web added that its workers in Europe could intermittently access Drive, but its US team was having not even brief luck on this front.

In any case, it was just over an hour later that Google indicated, through the Status Dashboard, that problems with Drive should be over. About an hour after that, it added that Gmail issues should now also be gone.

It’s probable that many iPhone and iPad users were affected by these outages, as Google offers many of its services, including Drive and Gmail, as free iOS apps. Thankfully, however, the downtime was brief and should little affect the appeal of Google’s apps on the Apple platform.
