Gurman predicts new Macs next month, and even more in May or June

Apple is expected to launch at least one new Mac at its yet-to-be-announced spring event, which is rumored to be scheduled for March 8. Not only that, but according to Bloombergā€™s much-quoted Apple observer Mark Gurman, we can expect to see another set of Macs launched in May or June this year.

In Gurmanā€™s words, among Appleā€™s many other new products lined up for this year, ā€œa lot of the attention will be on the Macā€¦ because Apple is entering part three of its end-to-end computer overhaul ā€“ a move that includes dumping Intel Corp. chips in favor of Apple Silicon.ā€

That particular transition began with the MacBook Pro, Mac mini and MacBook Air all getting M1 variants during 2020. This was followed in 2021 by the release of the M1 iMac and, later that same year, MacBook Pros incorporating the M1 Pro and M1 Max processors.

While we are expecting the spring event to focus largely on the 5G iPhone SE and iPad Air, most Apple enthusiasts now anticipate the sight of at least one new Mac as well.

Providing a summary of all the Macs he expected to break cover during 2022, Gurman said: ā€œGiven that two of the oldest Apple Silicon Macs in the lineup today are the entry-level MacBook Pro and the Mac mini, Iā€™d guess that those models will be next to get upgraded.ā€

He also suggested we will see more new Macs launch around the time of Appleā€™s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in May or June this year, stating that he had been told the Cupertino firm ā€œis already gearing up for another round of Mac releasesā€ during that period.
