Earlier this year, IBM committed to converting many of its employees to Mac use – and the corporation nicknamed Big Blue has recently hailed the great success of this program.
At this week’s JAMF Nation User Conference, Fletcher Previn, IBM’s Vice President of Workplace-as-a-Service, revealed to a crowd of over a thousand Apple IT administrators that his company is weekly deploying 1,900 Macs. A total of 130,000 Macs and iOS devices are now in use by the workforce.
Those devices have proved surprisingly easy to use; they are supported by just 24 staffers at the internal help desk, meaning a ratio of one of these staffers to 5,375 employees. Furthermore, it was reported that a mere 5% of Mac users seek this help desk – far lower than the 40% of PC users who do so.
Expressing sentiments that many consumer Mac users would concur with, Previn noted that each Mac “still has value three or four years down the road”, which contributes to the long term value for money. “Every Mac that we buy is making and saving IBM money,” Previn enthused.
That such a prestigious company with traditionally large reliance on Windows has so seamlessly adopted Mac usage to amazing end results is more than a confident stamp of approval for the Apple offering.
