Apple will release next year’s iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, and iPhone 13 mini on the same September timeline as previous models, bar the iPhone 12, according to a new report.
The company was forced to delay the launch of this year’s iPhones by a month due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced manufacturing delays as factories closed to slow the spread.
However, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has now confirmed that Apple will revert to its usual timeframe for next year’s iPhone 13 range, with the first models coming in September 2021.
We don’t know for certain whether the iPhone 13 will be called the iPhone 13, though it would make sense for the company to follow the traditional naming pattern.
It’s also likely that the iPhone 13 will feature an upgraded A15 chip, offering performance enhancements, and some have reported enhancements such as a smaller notch and the reintroduction of Touch ID under the screen.
Apple typically clears the latest iPhones for mass production from early summer to cope with demand, but delays to the iPhone 12 as a result of the pandemic meant the models weren’t manufactured until September, which meant the company had to delay the launch of the devices by a month.
To reduce pressure on its distribution and supply chains, Apple even pushed the release of the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max back another month.
With Apple expected to begin mass production on next year’s iPhone 13 as soon as July 2021, it’s likely that we’ll see the smartphone announced during a typical September Event, and thus shorten the typical one-year gap between the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 13. It’s important to remember, though, that nothing is certain, and production plans could change.
