iPhone 16 Series to Feature Ultra-Thin Bezels for Enhanced Display Experience Apple is reportedly enhancing the display size of the upcoming iPhone 16 series through the adoption of innovative ultra-thin bezel technology.

Apple is gearing up to maximize the display area on the forthcoming iPhone 16 lineup by integrating a new ultra-thin bezel technology, according to a recent report from Korea. This advancement involves the use of Border Reduction Structure (BRS) technology, aimed at minimizing the bezel size at the bottom of the display by compacting the internal copper wiring.

The tech giant intends to extend this borderless display technology across all four models of the iPhone 16 series, slated for release in the latter half of this year. Attempts to implement this technology in past iPhone models were hindered by overheating issues. However, Apple’s renewed efforts to utilize BRS technology are buoyed by recent advancements in heat dissipation techniques.

Previously, in the iPhone 15 Pro models, Apple employed low-injection pressure over-molding (LIPO) to reduce the bezel width to 1.5 millimeters, down from approximately 2.2 millimeters seen in the iPhone 14 models.

Despite these adjustments, there have been no significant changes to iPhone screen sizes since the launch of the iPhone 12 series in 2020.

This trend is set to shift with the iPhone 16 series in 2024, particularly with the Pro models, which are expected to feature larger display sizes than their iPhone 15 Pro counterparts.

Sources indicate that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will boast display sizes of about 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively. Specifically, the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to have a 6.27-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature a 6.85-inch screen. These adjustments in display size will also lead to a slight increase in the overall dimensions of the devices, making them marginally taller and wider than their predecessors. This change is anticipated to provide Apple with additional internal space for components, potentially allowing for the inclusion of larger batteries in the iPhone 16 Pro models.

For the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models, no size changes are expected, and they will remain the same size as the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models. However, Apple plans to introduce the larger display sizes of 6.27 inches and 6.86 inches to its standard iPhone models with the release of the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Plus in 2025.
