Luxury conglomerate LVMH has announced that ‘Tap to Pay on iPhone’ will be available at select U.S. outlets of Sephora, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., Celine, and Dior later this year. This feature facilitates easy payment through a customer’s iPhone or Apple Watch, credit card, or other contactless payment methods on the store employee’s iPhone, leveraging the same near field communication (NFC) technology that powers Apple Pay.

Introduced in 2022, the ‘Tap to Pay on iPhone’ feature enables iPhone-to-iPhone contactless payments, eliminating the need for additional point-of-sale hardware from companies like Square or Clover. The feature is already in use in Australia and Taiwan.

LVMH’s introduction of ‘Tap to Pay on iPhone’ reflects its commitment to offering an impeccable customer experience, from the moment customers walk into the store, right through to making a purchase. The move aligns with the increasing demand for contactless payment methods, and will be applicable to purchases of any value.

Businesses can implement ‘Tap to Pay on iPhone’ via supported iOS apps like Shopify Point of Sale on an iPhone XS, or newer models running iOS 15.4 or subsequent versions.
