Microsoft Set to Unveil New All-in-One Surface Desktop PC?

After introducing its answer to the MacBook Pro, the Surface Book, last year, Microsoft might be about to introduce a new, iMac-rivaling all-in-one desktop PC that will fall under the Surface brand.

On Friday, Microsoft sent out media invites for a special event to be held in New York City on October 26. Itā€™s not obvious what exactly the Redmond firm will actually unveil on the day, but there is evidence that among the announcements could be that of this all-in-one Surface desktop PC.

Apparently, ā€œsources familiar with Microsoftā€™s plansā€ have told The Verge that, if such a product is indeed unveiled, it will be ā€œaimed at creativesā€, with Microsoft said to be developing software and hardware capable of enhancing how stylus, touch and other inputs can be used on a desktop PC.

That software could include a significantly revamped version of Microsoftā€™s legendary Paint app. Twitter user WalkingCat recently linked to what looks like a video demonstration, which you can watch below, of the new appā€™s features, which will apparently include the ability to create and annotate 3D objects.

The Verge judges that Microsoft might be currently testing early ā€œalphaā€ versions of the new Paint, and that this new software could soon be ready for public release. We wouldnā€™t be surprised to see Microsoft announce and thoroughly demonstrate the overhauled Paint at the October 26 event.
