The new iPad Pro should launch in March, according to a report from Digitimes.
Their report echoes the previous rumors from Bloomberg that Apple was set to launch a refreshed version of its iPad Pro in the coming months, last updated in October 2018.
According to the report, models of the new iPad Pro exist, but production has been hit because of the coronavirus outbreak in China, closing some of Apple’s assembly lines.
Though some had suggested that the company could delay the launch of the new iPad Pro, others suggest that it will debut in small quantities and Apple will meet the demand by April.
Digitimes has suggested that production on the new device will peak at 3 million units/month.
The new iPad Pro is expected to feature a new rear-facing triple-camera system, inspired by the iPhone 11 family, as well as an exclusive time-of-flight 3D sensor for more advanced photography.
Though iPads aren’t the most convenient of devices to take images with, Apple hopes that by bumping up the specs, professionals will be able to get more creative with their devices.
The new time-of-flight 3D sensor is designed to help the iPad measure distances and the size of objects in the real world, and it will work with augmented reality technology.
It’s widely expected this technology will come to the iPhone 12 family when it launches in September.
Something worth noting is that Digitimes reported on the launch of a 12-inch iPad Pro.
At present, Apple sells both 11-inch and 12.9-inch models, so it will be interesting to see whether Apple will change the dimensions of the iPad Pro or whether it was a mistype.
