New iPod Touch & Nano Announced

The event held today in San Francisco started off with a bang as Apple kicked the show off with the iPhone 5 unveiling. It was expected they would save the best for last, but no, Apple chose to show off the new generation iPod Touch and Nano towards the end of the show. This made sense since they gave a sneak peak at the entirely new iTunes right afterwards.

New 4″ iPod Touch MSRP $299 (32BG) and $399(64GB), October release

> Thinner and lighter with same 4″ display as the iPhone 5

> It will have the same 9 pin “lightning” connector as the iPhone 5

>Ā New dual-core processor and dual-core graphics for games’. Performance will be up to two times faster than the previous CPU and graphics will increase seven times

> Battery life is also better, with forty hours of music and eight hours of playback

> New dual-band wireless 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0.

> Camera-wise, the new iPod touch will include a 5-megapixel sensor with backside illumination and many of the high-end features of the iPhone 5, including a sapphire crystal, five-element lens and Panorama mode. Software features include iPhoto, Siri, and AirPlay mirroring.

> 2.5 inch multitouch screen

> Thinner than before and has a home button

> Bluetooth enabled and includes the 9 pin lightning connector

> It will support video playback and photo-viewing in wide screen

> It will support apps made for previous Nano models
