Gurman shared in his Power On newsletter that he doesn’t anticipate any hardware announcements at the upcoming event, barring any unexpected previews of future devices.

This is a shift from previous expectations, particularly regarding the next Apple TV model.

Earlier reports suggested a new Apple TV might be released in the first half of 2024, but Gurman now states that a new model “isn’t imminent”.

The most recent Apple TV was launched in October 2022.

Here are the release dates of the previous five Apple TV models:

The upcoming Apple TV is rumored to have a faster processor than the current A15 Bionic chip and potentially lower pricing.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has indicated a starting price of $99 in the U.S., down from $129. While major design changes are not expected, Apple has considered incorporating a built-in camera for future models.

Currently, the FaceTime app on tvOS 17 requires using the rear camera on a connected iPhone or iPad for video calls on the Apple TV.
