The latest addition of Apple Maps EV routing will enable Taycan users to plan their travel routes inclusive of stops for charging. Prior to this integration, Taycan drivers had to disengage from CarPlay to create a route that included charging stops.
While the Porsche Charging Planner remains available to optimize stops based on anticipated state of charge, traffic conditions, and average speed upon arrival at a destination, Taycan owners who prefer using CarPlay now have Apple Maps EV routing as an alternative.
The new feature leverages real-time vehicle data to assist drivers in reaching their destination by recommending charging stops as required. Apple Maps considers various factors, including changes in elevation along the route to determine when a charging stop should be suggested. If the vehicle’s battery charge drops too low, the system will recommend a route to the nearest compatible charging station.
Porsche has confirmed that Apple Maps EV routing is now available to all U.S.-based Taycan owners who have the latest version of the My Porsche app installed on their iPhones.
