Preorders for iPhone 7 Reportedly to Start on September 9

Respected tech leaker Evan Blass has claimed that preorders for the new iPhones expected this fall will start on September 9. This tallies well with the VentureBeat reporter’s earlier claim that the handsets will be released during the week beginning September 12.

Blass made both of these revelations on his Twitter page, insisting that the date for the start of preorders was “confirmed” and that “you can extrapolate the launch event date from there.” This refers to the fact that, typically, Apple unveils new iPhones on the Tuesday or Wednesday before preorders.

Therefore, we can realistically expect Apple’s launch event for this fall’s iPhones to take place on September 6 or 7, preorders to start on the following Friday, and the release date to fall on the Friday after that, September 16. Given that Apple tends to send out press invites for an event two weeks beforehand, we should look out for those invites arriving around August 22 or 23.

However, Apple is unlikely to dedicate the launch event solely to new iPhones, especially as rumor has suggested that the second generation Apple Watch could also be announced on the big day. The appearance of a hugely revamped MacBook Pro, said to be due in 2016’s fourth quarter, is also possible.
