The French site NowhereElse.fr has posted a design sketch possibly depicting the iPhone 7. Should this image be authentic, this year’s iPhone evidently could have identical dimensions to the iPhone 6S.
The sketch indicates a height of 138.3mm and width of 67.12mm – dimensions exactly matching those of the iPhone 6S. Nonetheless, the upcoming device’s thickness is not specified here, leaving open the mystery of whether Apple, as rumor suggests, could have axed the dedicated headphone jack to even further slim down the casing.
Another intriguing detail of this image, displayed below, is a slightly larger camera lens cutout in comparison to that of the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6S. 9to5Mac writer Ben Lovejoy has suggested that this could indicate a bigger sensor for the iPhone 7’s back shooter.
Adding to the sketch’s credibility is the appearance of a watermark from NowhereElse.fr editor Steve Hemmerstoffer, who has a decent history of leaking accurate details about upcoming Apple products. Hemmerstoffer judges, from his own unnamed sources, that the iPhone 7’s thickness should match that of the iPhone 6S – or be “imperceptibly less”.
Leaks about the iPhone 7 could well ramp in the months approaching the device’s expected September launch – but, in the meantime, you can take your own close look at the sketch and enjoy speculating.
