A new video, which has surfaced from Chinese social media site Weibo, shows what could be dummy units of the upcoming 4.7-inch iPhone 7 – and it seems to back many rumors about the phone’s features.
While 9to5Mac calls the Weibo-based sources responsible for bringing this video to light “unknown”, it has posted the video to YouTube for easy viewing; you can check it out for yourself below. Unlike many other leaks of the iPhone 7, this one shows both the back and bottom edge – rather than just one or another – of the handset, here pictured in what look like space gray and silver finishes.
So, we can enjoy a good view of the larger back camera lens, double speakers and absence of a dedicated headphone jack – all of which have previously been rumored. The larger iPhone 7 Plus, on the other hand, looks set to get a dual-lens camera and, possibly, a rear Smart Connector.
Experienced tech leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer has expressed his view that the iPhone 7 units in this video are dummies – in other words, empty units usually sent to help third party companies to make cases of the correct fit – rather than complete handsets.
In any case, should tradition hold, the iPhone 7 should be both announced and released alongside the iPhone 7 Plus this September. In the new issue of AppleMagazine released today, we also look at what other changes we could expect with the iPhone 7’s arrival.
