Take Perfect Panoramas With Veho’s Muvi X-Lapse Rotating Stand

I absolutely love the panorama feature on the iPhone 5. I don’t have one myself yet, but I did get to use a friend’s. I happen to live in a place that was graced with exceptional beauty, with tall mountainous peaks and deep crystalline lakes. Throw in a mass of dense forests, abundant wildlife, and rocky plains, and you’ve got a playground for the aspiring photographer.

More importantly, it’s a great place to capture some epic panoramic shots. Standing atop a tall peak, overlooking miles of endless wilderness, can make for a beautiful composition, although it can be difficult to get that perfect shot sometimes. Shaky hands and the bitter cold have plagued me whenever I try to take a wilderness photo. It can also be a little difficult to spin 360-degrees when you’re standing on a precarious ledge, and that makes it difficult to get a steady panorama.

The folks over at Veho have come up with a creative solution to this issue. The Muvi X-Lapse Rotating Stand is the perfect tool for all of you photographers and videographers out there who are looking for excellent panoramas or a unique action shot. The stand features a standard 1/4-20 UNC female tripod screw thread, which will work with most modern cameras, and it even includes a special holder to make it iPhone 5 compatible. If you have a camera that is top-heavy (one with a massive photo lens), the stand has special fold-out feet that will help to stabilize your device as it snaps photos.

The stand spins by itself on a single turning axle, moving at a speed that is perfect for both sweeping 360-degree video shots and panoramic photos. The Muvi X-Lapse will also allow you to set specific angles for videos or photos. You can create sweeping shots or panoramas at 90 degrees, 180 degrees, 270 degrees, or 360 degrees.

The device runs at a suggested retail price of USD $39.95 and can be ordered directly from the company’s website. The Muvi X-Lapse will ship with the specialized iPhone 5 holder, meaning you don’t need a fancy high-end camera to get great action shots and panoramas. This would make a great, inexpensive Christmas gift for the photographer on your list too.
