The 5 best sports apps for iOS

Tom

You have an iPhone or iPad and you love sports. But what’s the best way to get the most out of your iOS device in terms of your love for your favorite sports? Well, we’re going to help you out by taking a quick look at 5 of the best apps available on iOS when it comes to sports.

Livescore

Kind of obvious with a name like that, but Livescore offers so much in terms of sports that you will never need any other app to track down your favorite teams, leagues, or competitions. Livescore will make sure to keep you updated on anything in the football world, and it will not only cater for the last-minute scores but also have a host of results and fixtures in the app that will permit you to check your team’s upcoming matches. Not going to lie, this feature saved me from missing out on my team’s games a couple of times. That ended in canceling that day’s plans of course, but as any real sports fan knows, your team comes before anything and everything, except the wife.

The calendar feature is honestly really useful, because not only you can browse the next matches for whatever teams or leagues you choose, but you can favorite them. Favoriting a match will result in you receiving notifications from this match. Again, these notifications are totally customizable too, so you will be able to tick what you need and what you don’t. For example, I like to set the notifications of games I’m interested in watching to just tell me when the game begins, to not get sidetracked and forget. There are score notifications, and all events notifications, so that you’ll be updated in real-time.

Bleacher Report

Bleacher Report has been present for quite some time in social media, so it’s no surprise that its app is one of the most popular and useful. The Bleacher Report application will provide last-minute updates and news both for your favorite team as well as around the sporting world. Bleacher Report will not only cater for football fans but also for other sports, so it might seem more of a must have than livescore. Featuring live scores as well, Bleacher Report is tailor-made for sports fans who want everything in an all-in-one application, and the ability to select favorite teams so that you get a push notification whenever your club has new updates is a really important part of this; it will make sure you never miss a beat, whether your club has sold an important player or a simple press release about small matters.

OddsTrader

So, the OddsTrader app. As you can probably guess, this is a betting application. Well, sort of anyway. You don’t go there to place bets, but you can use it to find the best odds on the markets you’re interested in. Allowing you to get a better reward for your money when it comes to wagering on outcomes in your favorite sports. But, the app is so much more than that too.

You’re able to get live score updates, statistical comparisons, see the current and past forms of your favorite teams, and more. It literally has everything you could need to make a decision on who to bet on or against, but at the same time, can be a handy tool for the average sports fan to keep track on what’s going on in the world of sport.

ESPN

The ESPN app is much like the Bleacher Report app in that it can be customized as to the user’s preferences. The ESPN app is also likely to offer professional analysis to the mix, making it a holistic experience of sports. The most appealing aspect of the ESPN application however is the ability to stream thousands of live events directly to your phone or device, so you will never be left wanting in on a hot match when you are not at home. This feature is invaluable when you cannot simply miss an occasion, and even though it’s not very polite, you can access your team’s match while not at home. It is truly an exceptional opportunity. Obviously, this feature is behind a monthly subscription, but given the value for money one gets in return, it is a no brainer that it is worth it.

theScore

This application is for all those who may want all the news all the time, and coupled with other previously mentioned applications such as Bleacher Report, will make sure you will be an encyclopedia about your favorite team or even sport. theScore app will provide basically all the news currently going on in your sport or sports of choice, and will also provide the latest scores, league results, and leaderboards. The application also features a messaging app where you can chat with other people who have adopted the same application, meaning you can talk about your favorite club with people supporting the same club. It’s a match made in heaven!
