Tickr to Bring Mechanical Ticking Sounds to Apple Watch

The Apple Watch might be a very twenty-first century timepiece, but it doesn’t mean that you have to do away with everything good about traditional watches. Just look at Tickr, the upcoming app which will allow you to add the familiar sound of mechanical ticking to your Apple Watch.

Once installed, Tickr will run constantly in the background, allowing you to enjoy hearing that ticking right through the day. It’s a relaxing sound that, Tickr claims, can even help bring you to sleep when you leave the Apple Watch on your bedside table in the evening.

On the app’s official website, Tickr claims to have worked with London sound engineers to develop ticks replicating “everything from the smooth sweeping tick of the Rolex Daytona, the precision tick of the IWC pilot and the sure, sturdy tick of the classic Swatch watch.” You can even choose to hear the ticking of London’s iconic landmark Big Ben from your Apple Watch!

While Tickr isn’t yet on the App Store, it’s said to be “launching soon” – and, on the app’s website, you can listen to audio samples of various ticks that you will be able to choose from for your Apple Watch.
