Tim Cook Tweets About ConnectED Partner Santee Elementary

Apple chief executive Tim Cook took to Twitter today to report on his time volunteering with many other Apple workers at Santee Elementary School in San Diego, California.

In Cook’s tweet here, #MLKDay refers to today’s federal holiday celebrating the birthday of activist and humanitarian Martin Luther King, Jr., while ConnectED is US President Barack Obama’s initiative seeking to provide high-speed Internet access to 99% of the country’s students by 2018.

Apple is among the companies, also including Microsoft, Sprint and Verizon, participating in the scheme. Cook has expressed much enthusiasm about the project in the past; in August, he appeared on ABC show Good Morning America to discuss how 114 schools, including Santee Elementary, across 29 states would benefit from the iPads that Apple has distributed for student use.
