Through Live Activities integration, users can conveniently view their boarding passes, gate and seat numbers, as well as a countdown timer to their departure time. These details can be accessed on the Lock Screen even when the iPhone is locked or the United app is closed. On iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, the information can also be displayed in the Dynamic Island.

United Airlines is reportedly the first U.S. airline to implement support for Live Activities. This decision was made in response to data showing United customers check their mobile boarding pass and flight status nearly 800,000 times every day.

As the boarding time approaches, users can tap the Live Activities widget to access their boarding pass. During the flight, an in-flight countdown is displayed. The Live Activities integration also offers other useful information such as the flight number, flight status, inbound aircraft status, estimated departure and arrival times, departure and arrival gates, and baggage carousel information.

According to United, by the end of May, Live Activities should be broadly accessible to all its customers. However, numerous users have already reported being able to use this feature.

To take advantage of this feature, users must ensure they have the latest United app and an iPhone operating iOS 16.1 or later.
