Windows 10 Update Preview Adds New iPhone Sync Features

If you pair your iPhone with a Windows 10 computer, you can look forward to a fresh update to Microsoft’s platform that will expand the ways in which the two devices can be used together.

In a blog post announcing the release of this update’s preview version for beta testers, Microsoft has revealed various details about the cross-platform features which all Windows 10 users will be able to freely enjoy upon the public release of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update this summer.

These features all run through Cortana, the virtual personal assistant available on desktop Windows 10 and as an app for iOS, and include low battery notifications. In other words, if your iPhone’s battery life is low, Cortana can notify you on your Windows 10 computer. There is also the option to ask Cortana for map directions on Windows 10 before having her send those directions to your iPhone.

Though not spelt out in the official announcement, Microsoft has informed Thurrott that these features will indeed be compatible with iPhones, not just Windows and Android smartphones.
