AirPods Delayed Beyond Originally Intended October Release

While the AirPods, Apple’s new wireless headphones announced alongside the iPhone 7 in September, had been set to go on sale this month, Apple has now let slip that it is delaying the release beyond October, citing the need to add a little more polish before shipping.

“The early response to AirPods has been incredible. We don’t believe in shipping a product before it’s ready, and we need a little more time before AirPods are ready for our customers,” an Apple spokesperson told TechCrunch. Apple neither provided a new release date nor specified whether hardware or software issues were at fault for putting back the headphones’ arrival.

The good news is that Apple’s perfectionist spirit should further enhance the setup and listening experiences already hailed by press critics who had the chance to try out the AirPods early. Apple has previously announced a $159 price tag for the AirPods which should be especially appreciated by iPhone 7 users facing the absence of the usual dedicated headphone jack.
